Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 August 2026
This policy explains what information mytakehome.money ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you use this website, and how it's used. We've tried to keep this short and in plain English.
Who we are
mytakehome.money is an independent UK take-home pay and budgeting calculator site. It is not affiliated with HMRC, gov.uk, or any bank or pension provider. If you have questions about this policy, see the Contact page.
The calculators themselves
Every figure you enter into a calculator on this site — salary, savings, budget items and so on — is processed in your browser only. Nothing you type into a calculator is sent to us, stored on our servers, or linked to you. If you close the tab, it's gone.
Information we do collect
Like most websites, we use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics or Google Search Console) to understand how the site is used — things like which pages are visited, how long people stay, device type and general location (usually just country or city level, derived from IP address). This helps us improve the site and is not used to identify you personally.
Cookies
The site may use cookies or similar technologies for:
- Basic analytics, as above
- Remembering simple preferences (for example, figures you've adjusted on a calculator during your visit)
- Serving advertising, if and when the site carries adverts, via networks such as Google AdSense, which may set their own cookies to show relevant ads
You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so won't stop the calculators working, but may affect analytics and ad relevance.
Advertising and affiliate links
Some pages may include sponsored placements or affiliate links to third-party financial products (for example, investment platforms or savings accounts). If you click through and take out a product, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These placements are clearly labelled "Sponsored". We don't control, and aren't responsible for, the privacy practices of those third-party sites — check their own policies before sharing information with them.
Third-party services
We may use third-party providers for hosting (such as Netlify), analytics, and advertising. These providers process limited technical data (like IP address and browser type) under their own privacy policies. We don't sell personal data to anyone.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights over any personal data held about you, including the right to ask what's held, request corrections, or ask for it to be deleted. Since this site doesn't create accounts or store the figures you enter, there's very little personal data to hold in the first place. For anything analytics-related, you can also opt out directly through your browser or via Google's own opt-out tools. If you're unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Children
This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features or ad partners. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
