The team behind the numbers
mytakehome.money is built and maintained by a small independent team based in the UK. We build take-home pay, benefits and everyday money calculators for the UK and US, and we care about one thing above all: the numbers being right.
Every tax band, National Insurance threshold, benefit rate and US federal or state figure on this site is taken directly from official primary sources — HMRC, the DWP, gov.uk, the ONS, the IRS and individual state revenue departments — and re-checked whenever the rules change.
We are not accountants or financial advisers, and nothing here is personal financial advice. What we are is meticulous about accuracy, and transparent about where every figure comes from. Where an official source exists, we link to it so you can check for yourself.
How we work
- Primary sources only. Figures come straight from HMRC, the DWP, gov.uk, the ONS, the IRS and state revenue departments — never from other calculators.
- We date everything. Each calculator and guide carries a "last verified" date so you know exactly how current it is.
- We show our working. Our methodology page explains every assumption and links to every source.
- We correct fast. Spot something wrong? Tell us and we'll fix it and re-date the page.
What we're not
We're not accountants, financial advisers, or affiliated with HMRC, the DWP or any government body. Nothing on this site is personal financial advice. We're an independent team that builds genuinely accurate tools and is transparent about where the figures come from.
